ATS Automated Dead System

ATS Automated Dead System

ATS Automated Dead System

Fully automatic picking of full containers (fresh) and beverage crates

ATS enables the fully automatic picking of shipping units, consisting of containers that have already been filled with goods in-house or by the supplier. In the ATS, these are received, buffered, picked, stacked on a shipping unit to suit the customer or branch and prepared for delivery without any personnel deployment or ID recording.

These applications are mainly found in the fresh food areas of food retail distribution centers. ATS is also used in the field of order picking of beverage crates with high efficiency.

In addition, ATS sets completely new standards in terms of ergonomics by completely avoiding strenuous lifting and carrying of heavy containers and crates.

With ATS, the entire material flow is significantly simplified and accelerated. First of all, a wide variety of fresh products are delivered to the distribution center on sorted pallets in containers already packed by the supplier. A one-off identification takes place centrally in the incoming goods department. Further tracking in the system is then guaranteed via indirect target tracking, which means that there is no need for complex physical labeling of the individual containers with barcodes or the like. Due to the flexibility of the system, different container formats with base areas of 600 x 400 mm and 400 x 300 mm and different heights can be used. It is also possible to pick Euro-Pool containers.

After the stack of totes has been pushed off the WE pallet and separated, extremely light stacker cranes, so-called Coordinate Rack Shuttles (CRS), store the totes in an AKL. Sequence buffers are integrated in the AKL itself, which are responsible for the highly dynamic, store-specific sorting of the containers based on the specifications of the respective supermarket. After the so-called stacking - ie the order-oriented stacking of the individual containers into container towers - these are pushed onto a dolly, provided with a load securing device, labeled and transported to the shipping area.

Depending on the stock situation and the departure times of the respective tours, the pallets with container towers can also be temporarily stored in an automatic pallet warehouse after the goods have been received before they enter the AKL.
