Within a science laboratory IGEM Standard UP/11 which covers Gas installations in Educational Establishments requires a gas proving system to be fitted as an Automatic Isolation Valve (AIV). If the gas supply to science laboratory is started without checking that all gas taps are closed, a gas leak will occur. Crucially, the KS23 Trio LabStart protects personnel and property from damage caused by gas leaks. In addition, this unique keypad operated control panel ensures that only authorized personnel are able to start the gas supply.
The KS23 Trio LabStart then checks the downstream pipework for leaks – gas taps left on. Only when it is satisfied that there are no gas taps open the electrically operated gas valve is automatically operated. All of this makes the KS23 and G621 a great system for ensuring UP/11 compliance. The system also starts the other services to the laboratory – the Electrical Supply and water supply.
Finally, when the gas is turned on an automatic safe shutdown will occur if:
Emergency stop push button is pressed (Duomo KOB21)
Low gas pressure is detected
High levels of Carbon Dioxide are detected by Duomo CO2MC or CO2 Alarm.
