AOP Automatic Edging System

The AOP Automatic Edging System is designed for the automatic lengthwise plastering of side timber stressing the high performance and load and minimisation of operating staff.

The timber is moved to the equipment through a system of side timber gathering transversal chain conveyors and a side timber separator. The insertion, setting, cutting and shifting of plastered planks is automatic, and the operating staff supervise the running, and carries out the qualitative sorting and reduction. The entire equipment is mounted on a supporting steel structure, conveyors for collecting and removing waste are installed in the space under the equipment.

Among the main operations carried out by the automatic plastering system are:

• Sorting of timber before plastering (exclusion of flawed parts)

• Direction of the timber with the bulge upwards

• Cutting away the flaws on the far end of the timber

• Capping the timber – cutting away the flaws (of the tongue) at the nearest end

• Measuring the width of the timber, processing the measured data - optimisation

• Operating signals for the centring conveyor, and managing the positioning (turning) of the part before plastering (as requested)

• Control of the plastering saw – optimising the manufactured widths with respect to the max. load

• Actual timber plastering

• Removal of cuttings behind the plastering saw

• Control signals for sorting the plastered timber for sorting side timber – as requested depending on the specific execution of the sorting conveyor
