IP55 Riser Bar

IP55 Riser Bar

IP55 Riser Bar

What is it used for?

One of the most common applications for IP55 busbar is to distribute power across several floors of a building structure. Typical installations would be commercial properties, such as offices, and residential scenarios, such as hotels and high-rise flats.

Tap off units are added at specific locations identified in the design phase, to allow the power to be transferred from the rising busbar to local distribution boards where local circuits are wired from.

The tap off units and busbar are designed in such a way that they can safely be plugged in and unplugged while the rising busbar is live, with only the tap off unit being worked with needing to be in the off position. This allows a building to continue operating with no need to isolate the entire system.

Why should it be used?

Due to the busbars compact design it requires less space than that of conventional cabling system. This is just one advantage. Other advantages include:

  • Cost – Material and Labour
    • Compared to the amount of cables needed to give the same capacity across multiple locations / floors the rising busbar is often more cost effective.
    • Elements come in a maximum length of 3m, the installation process is often faster, meaning rising busbar requires less labour and less time to install.
  • Adaptability – Elements can change direction at 90 degrees and can be flexible in design which means it can be used in any structure. Tap off units can be designed into a project exactly where you need them to be.
