Silver Flexible Circuit Solutions
Silver Flexible Circuit Solutions
Molex delivers high-performing Silver Flexible Circuit Solutions with finely spaced, narrow silver traces and complex components on polyester substrate, offering an economical alternative to traditionally etched copper traces on polyimide
Overview
Consumers expect products to do more electronically. As a result, designers need to fit increasingly small components and traces on limited real estate. Polyimide can accommodate small components and traces, but it is more expensive than PET. A PET substrate provides a flexible alternative to printed circuit boards. New silver ink technology and roll-to-roll printing methods enable fine traces on PET.
Additionally, Molex has developed a propriety bonding method to attach complex components to PET, and a UV-cured encapsulant creates robust connections by protecting solder joints and attachment points from vibration. These circuits are ideal for low-power and low-signal applications. Together, fine silver traces and the proprietary bonding method make PET a viable, economical alternative to polyimide and printed circuit boards.
As consumers become more environmentally conscious, OEMs need to find ways to lessen their impact on natural resources. Molex Silver Flexible Circuit Solutions do not require harsh chemicals or a waste treatment facility. Furthermore, precise printing methods use the exact amount of silver needed for traces, reducing wasted ink.
