Feed-in units for high power

The feed-in units have been expanded to include peak outputs of up to 300 kW. Ideal for dynamic movements where high peak power is required in the short term.

The energy-efficient solution scores with a very compact design and high power density and precision.

Integrated safety functions in the supply unit

For the stackable converter generation b maXX 5000, Baumüller offers a new safety solution in which the electric motors are not switched off decentrally at the individual motor converters, but centrally with an STO module (Safe Torque Off) integrated into the feed unit.

As standard, the safety function for drive systems is decentrally integrated in the individual motor current converters. If the electric motors are equipped with only one centrally switched STO control unit, the assembly and wiring effort of the drive system is reduced, which leads to lower manufacturing costs.

The new safety concept meets the safety requirements SIL 2 according to IEC61508 or PLd, Category 3 according to DIN EN ISO 13849-1 and can be used in all applications in which the infeed unit and the axis units require the same STO conditions.

Energy and cost savings in dynamic applications

With the intermediate circuit capacity unit, the braking energy can be temporarily stored in dynamic applications and used for the subsequent acceleration. Can be used with devices of the converter generation b maXX 5000.

advantages

  • Temporary storage of braking energy -› Lower energy consumption
  • Leveling of the peak load -› Reduction of the contractually agreed consumption peaks with the EVU
  • Lower thermal radiation –› Lower dimensioning of the cooling units possible
  • Smaller dimensioning of the control cabinet and infeed unit -› Less space required and cost savings possible
  • Temporarily stored energy enables the system to be shut down in a controlled manner in the event of faults and power failures -› Cost reduction by saving on an independent power supply (UPS)

b maXX 5000 – The modular servo drive

braking energy

The control of a braking resistor is integrated in the device as a braking chopper. A ballast resistor is connected externally. On the one hand, this enables optimal dimensioning and, on the other hand, reduces the construction volume of the control cabinet.

line filter

In order to enable a price-optimal configuration, mains filters are always connected externally to the device. In this way, several power units can be combined on one mains filter, which reduces the costs for the overall system.

Temperature-dependent fan control

The fan is controlled depending on the internal temperature of the device. This lowers the overall energy balance and thus reduces the overall costs of a system.

Load sharing

An intermediate circuit coupling of several power units for energy balancing is possible. The excess energy is not "burnt" but is available to other drive units without additional energy being drawn from the supply network.

security module

With the help of the optional safety module, the "STO" functionality according to EN ISO 13849 up to PLe/SIL3 can be implemented easily and without the integration of additional contactors within the motor cable. This achieves a simple and manageable structure for the safety circuit. The risk potential emanating from the machine is reduced. The machine works reliably.
