Rotary tables

Rotary tables

Characteristics

The rotary table is a mechanical unit with orthogonal axes, in which the continuous rotation impressed on the input shaft is transformed into intermittent rotation on the output disk. This is achieved by coupling a cam, integral with the input shaft, with a roller-bearing divider disk integral with the output disk. The profile of the cam, the number and position of the rollers dragged in it, determine the type of movement performed. The number of divisions (standard from 2 to 32, but achievable on request up to 540) indicates the number of stops made by the disc during a complete revolution. The time taken to rotate a station is directly proportional to the angle of displacement, while the dwell time is directly proportional to the pause angle. The compact and sturdy shape of the Autorotor rotary tables and the always “made to measure” construction allow high performance standards; maximum axial and radial loads; they do not require maintenance and maintain very high levels of precision over time, thanks to constant control of the cam.

Application

Rotary tables are widespread and applied on equipment such as:

  • Assembly systems
  • Packaging lines
  • Production equipment
  • Automatic welding machines
  • Transport devices
  • Processing islands
  • Bottling machines
  • Printing machines

Benefits

The main advantages are:

  • Fully controlled fast and progressive movement
  • Regularity of operation even at high frequency
  • Self-locked stop position
  • High repeatability
  • Minimal maintenance
  • Minimum installed power.
  • Possibility of using continuously moving cams, driven by servomotors
