Shadow designs and manufactures state-of-the-art anthropomorphic robot hands & related systems. We’re one of Britain’s longest-running robotics firms and the leading experts for technology around grasping and manipulation for robotics. As well as office in the UK, we have recently opened an office in Madrid, Spain, which is a wholly owned subsidiary.

We have over 20 years experience of Innovate UK and European research projects (FP7 and H2020) as researcher, developer and end-user. Shadow’s broad expertise in robotics allows our engineers to engage in unique projects, helping our clients solve difficult problems through bespoke systems.

Artificial Intelligence

We recently partnered with OpenAI, a San Francisco-based AI research company, for the second time to prove that agents trained in simulation can effectively perform human-like tasks without real-world replication of training.

Teleoperation

Our collaborative Semi-Autonomous Teleoperation (SAT) project looks at developing a remote manipulation system using Teleoperation through VR and AR platforms and Shadow’s Smart Grasping System. Having capabilities that could suit a variety of sectors, our Teleoperation Development System is particularly gaining interest within Nuclear Decommissioning.
