The Lon device has a PCLTA-21 Network Adapter, which supports only Windows XP and Windows7 but not Windows 10. Because of the incompatibility of the PCLTA card with Windows 10 we had to build a Client- Server Application to access the Neuron IDs from Windows 10.

Problem Statement

• Migrate the Test software from WindowsXP to Windows 10(64-bit).
• Communicate with the PCLTA-21 and extract the NueronIds.
• Use of LONWorks LNS_DDE server on Windows 10.

Challenge

• Legacy system with no hardware backup, obsolescence WindowsXP test setup
• Access Neuron IDs via PCLTA-21 network adapter on Windows 10 machine.
• Use of LONWorks LNS_DDE server on Windows10.

Solution

• Provided with a Client-Server application that could communicate with Windows7 and Windows10.
• The LON application talks to the PCLTA-21 device and fetches the Neuron ID on Windows10 using LNS_DDE server for network management.

Impact to Customer

The Customer is able to use the application on Windows10 to fetch the NeuronIDs.
