Ring Hardening Plant - Compact with high productivity

SMS Elotherm offers innovative machine concepts for hardening gear rings and large rings. Highly productive processes for hardening gear teeth and running surfaces are available for large rings. For hardening of the running surface, SMS Elotherm has developed and patented slip-free hardening, which avoids the usual soft zone - a new standard in the field of ring hardening. With the configurator from SMS Elotherm, a system is put together from individual modules that meets all customer requirements. Thanks to the modular design, hardening systems that are economically tailored, suitably dimensioned and optimized for set-up times can be realised.

Wear-resistant surfaces through inductive hardening

Whether in an aggressive salt water environment, on the open sea or in the dusty environment of mining - rings have to withstand extreme conditions. It is essential that the dynamically loaded components in offshore wind turbines or in large mining machines function reliably and almost maintenance-free.

The process for creating the necessary wear-resistant surfaces is inductive hardening. In wind turbines, for example, three process principles of inductive surface layer hardening are used: advance hardening with and without a soft zone and full surface hardening.
