Over the last five years, McAlpin Industries has invested heavily in our machining capabilities and accompanying equipment. Initially offering smaller part CNC machining with our Haas VF-3 Vertical Machining Center, we saw a need to fulfill larger part manufacturing requests from our customers and recently purchased a Hyundai KH1000 Horizontal Machining Center (HMC) to accompany our large part B-750 FlexArc Weld Cell. This new equipment has allowed us to offer larger part machining and welding as an additional value-added service for our customers.

For customers with large, welded frames that need post welding precision machining to meet tight tolerances, this work center will provide great benefits.

Some features of our horizontal machining center include:

Heavy duty box guideways on all axes allows for more cutting forces with less vibration
Conical contact spindles run at 8,000 RPM allowing both higher accuracy and feed rates
Accuracy- 0.0005”*
Spindle- 35 hp, Max 600 lb-ft. torque
Travel is X-83” Y-53” Z-55
Workpiece coordinate values can be set with the Renishaw probe to ensure quality
Parts staged more accurately
Dual APC: machine one part and prep the next for fast throughput
Pallet capacity of 2 x 6600 lbs. (3000kg)
2 – 39.7” (100cm) Pallets
Runs parts that fit in a space 6 feet in diameter and 5 feet tall (1.9M x 1.5M)

With the addition of the KH1000 HMC, McAlpin Industries now has the capability to weld and machine large metal assemblies. By having both the HMC and ABB Robotic B-750 FlexArc Weld Cell in-house, we can save our customers time and money for their large manufacturing needs.
