  • The company was founded in 1944 by Richard Weber as an electrical engineering university in Radebeul near Dresden and has been carrying the name Metra since 1954.

  • At the end of the fifties, under the direction of Prof. Lenk and Dr. med. Erler the first developments of piezoelectric vibration sensors. The reason for the introduction of this then novel sensor technology is the development of jet engines for passenger aircraft in Pirna / Saxony.

  • In the 60s and 70s Metra developed a comprehensive product range of vibration sensors, measuring and display devices.

  • 8 mm advertising film for the use of the VM6 and VM8 devices, around 1970

  • In 1989, the first IEPE-compatible accelerometers are developed.

  • In 1990 the re-privatization takes place to Manfred Weber, the son of the company founder.
