Active Silicon is a specialist manufacturer of imaging products and embedded vision systems. We provide cameras and camera electronics for image data transmission, frame grabbers for data acquisition and embedded systems for image processing and machine control.
Founded in 1988, Active Silicon has a proven track record of providing reliable, high quality products for a variety of industries worldwide. Our products have applications in many areas of science and industry, including manufacturing, life sciences, medical imaging, security and defense. From space missions to large scale deployment of industrial vision systems, we have provided imaging components and embedded systems that help our customers provide world-class solutions.
Active Silicon is proud to be part of the Solid State plc group. Solid State plc, listed on the London Stock Exchange (SOLI), is a manufacturer of computing, power and communications products, and value-added distributor of electronic and opto-electronic components. Active Silicon operates within the Solid State’s Steatite systems division.

Operational Details
The main UK office in Iver, UK, is the center of administration and research and development. A separate Operations Facility nearby in Langley manages all product manufacture and supply. We also have a US subsidiary, Active Silicon, Inc., that operates from Severna Park, Maryland. This office provides sales, support and operations for North America.
All hardware is designed in-house with manufacturing taking place in both Europe and the Far East. Final assembly, inspection and testing is undertaken at the UK Operations Facility. Design and development of software drivers, libraries and applications are also carried out in-house in the UK.
