Tin Plating

Pure Tin Electroplating

Tin Plating is used to protect against corrosion and is used extensively with ferrous and nonferrous surfaces. Tin is a useful metal for the food processing industry since it is non-toxic, ductile and corrosion resistant. The excellent ductility of tin also allows a tin coated substrate to be formed into a variety of shapes without damaging the plating. It provides excellent protection for copper, nickel and other non-ferrous metals. TPI specializes in Electrolytic Bright and Matte Pure Tin plating with rack, barrel, and Reel to Reel processes, and can certify to the following Specifications:

  • AMS 2408
  • MIL-T-10727
  • ASTM B545
  • Custom OEM Specifications

Pure Hot Tin Dip

Technical Plating is also one of a select few companies in the United States to do Hot Tin Dip. Hot Tin Dip is the process of immersing a part into a bath of pure molten tin at a temperature greater than 450°F. The coating consists of a very thin intermetallic layer that first forms at the interface of the base material and the tin, followed by a layer of pure tin. Hot Tin Dip provides excellent solderability, prevents oxidizing, and improves corrosion and wear resistance. TPI is able to perform Hot Tin Dip as a rack process, and can certify to the following Specifications:

  • ASTM A1074-11
  • Custom OEM Specifications
