When the intensity in a circuit is too high to apply directly to measuring instruments, an intensity transformer produces a reduced intensity exactly proportional to the intensity in the circuit, being able to connect appropriately to the measuring and recording instruments.
A current transformer isolates the measuring instruments from what can be very high intensities in the monitored circuit.
