Overview

Sierra supplies transient AC dynamometers with associated regenerative inverter drives up to 1,000 kW and 8,000 Nm and 16,000rpm for numerous small and large engine and vehicle test applications. When we review your request for a small engine dyno, our approach is most often based on a modular design to ensure that we meet technical specifications with the most cost-effective methods.

Sierra's solutions encompass both higher-speed gasoline engine requirements, as well as the typically higher-torque demands from modern diesel engines.

Product Benefits

  • Each small engine dyno tester is matched to a 3-phase four quadrant AC regenerative inverter drive. The inverter drive incorporates filters for high-order and low-order harmonics to prevent cross-talk with adjacent equipment. The drives are physically compact without sacrificing outright performance.
  • Our standard range of motor dynos has been carefully selected for the majority of needs of the engine testing industry, but we consider any requirements for special applications. This includes performance and operational requirements such as water-cooled motors, user-specific center line heights, and provision for shaft guarding. When operating with Sierras CADET V14 control automation and data logging system, all machines are suitable to generate the dynamic test requirements for US-EPA, UK Federal and European emissions tests, among many others.
