The journey can move from the truck to the warehouse, to the trailer, and then to a store floor where shoppers can select an item. AutoShelf enables ‘never wait’ warehouse picking. The time a picker waits at the station for the next robot to arrive, known as Dwell Time, is virtually eliminated. AutoShelf robots create a continuous queue, so there’s never a wait because every shelf has a robot built-in.

In a warehouse equipped with the AutoShelf platform, every shelf in the warehouse is mobilized. Shelves are called to the picking station and form a continuous queue. A picker can achieve maximum picking speed, 450+ picks per hour. With AutoShelf there is never a wait for the next shelf to arrive.

Confined to the warehouse, traditional AMRs specialize in picking. Prime Robotics believes robotic automation can extend to other workflows within the warehouse. These processes can include receiving, put away, and outbound staging for trucking. But more crucially, as an autonomous warehouse robot, AutoShelf can take inventory beyond the warehouse. It can autonomously board a truck and then arrive at its final destination with no human touch.
Complex supply chain logistics can throttle efficiency. It’s commonly known that the fewer human touches between the source and the destination, the better. The AutoShelf is always connected
AutoShelf can receive updated instructions to drive to a specific loading dock to prepare to board and then board on cue. Once at its destination, AutoShelf takes instructions to unload and wait in a designated area. Sophisticated navigational technologies, including SLAM technology, give AutoShelf the ability to disembark at its next stop when instructed to re-route to a new destination.
Imagine optimizing logistics to meet fast-changing demand by updating routing instructions even after AutoShelf has left the warehouse. Now inventory headed to Denver could be re-tasked remotely to unload in Kansas City to board another truck to Houston.
