Energy efficiency of electric motors
RELUCTANCE SYNCHRONOUS ELECTRIC MOTORS
The synchronous reluctance electric motors , designed to have very high rotation speeds, are extremely reliable, compact and energy efficient machines. Precision in torque controls, robustness and high power density make electric reluctance motors machines applicable today in almost all industrial sectors.
ADVANTAGES OF THE TECHNOLOGY OF SYNCHRONOUS RELUCTANCE ELECTRIC MOTORS
The advantages of this technology are mainly of two types:
greater efficiency
better dynamics under certain conditions
There are also advantages in control, being synchronous motors, which can be exploited in specific applications.
ENERGY SAVING - IE4 EFFICIENCY OF ELECTRIC MOTORS The important advantage of ESMR machines, compared to a traditional induction motor, is the high efficiency , due to the elimination of losses in the rotor, which makes the difference especially in the operating conditions of speed and load partial. This leads to unbeatable energy savings in variable load applications, such as handling fluids. This advantage is obtained thanks to the synchronous type of the ESMR machine , whereby the fundamental losses of the rotor are not present (no winding or cage, zero slip frequency). This advantage can be exploited to obtain greater efficiency (as done in the ESMRA series in IEC finned round case), or a more compact motor (having less heat to dispose of), or a compromise between these two advantages, as we did in the square series. reed valve of ESMRQ motors ..
ENERGY SAVINGS, ECONOMIC SAVINGS!We present below a return on investment calculation, for a 55 kW 1500 rpm machine that drives a pump or fan, with a variable speed application (quadratic load and variable speed). The following graph highlights the performance difference compared to an asynchronous IE3, even if used with an efficiency optimization algorithm.
