Custom Electric Motor Laminations

LCS laminations are manufactured for industries that require adherence to demanding specifications and certifications for raw materials, manufacturing processes, and thermal treating.

LCS can produce electrical laminations and lamination segments from 1/2 inch thru 24-inch diameters utilizing punch presses from 3 to 330 tons. Quantities of several thousand, several hundred thousand through several million are routinely processed and fit our capabilities and our facilitys automation well.

Cobalt and Nickel alloys, Silicon steels (M15-M45), and cold rolled motor lam are commonly utilized to meet customersprogram requirements. Insulator lamination materials such as Nomex, Delrin, Fiberglass, Rubber, and PTFE can be processed as well.

To get all this done LCS uses compound and progressive tooling technologies built and maintained in-house. LCS also utilizes laser cutting for smaller prototype/development quantities.

WHAT ARE MOTOR LAMINATIONS?

Motor laminations are thin component parts that make up the cores of electric motors. Once manufactured, depending on the requirements of the end application, they would be bonded or welded together to form the core. There are several grades of electrical steel available for the manufacture of laminations. The selection of the electrical steel influences the motor efficiency, weight and cost.

HOW ARE MOTOR LAMINATIONS MADE?

Motor laminations are made from thin coils of electrical steel that are run through automated press lines into large presses that contain progressive or compound tooling that stamp the motor laminations from the steel. Laser cutting can also be utilized for start up and immediate lamination needs.
