Electric Arc Furnace for Melting and Refining Iron and Steel

Electric Arc Furnace for Melting and Refining Iron and Steel

Electric Arc Furnace for Melting and Refining Iron and Steel

High power and productivity

Electric arc furnaces are used to obtain steel or stainless steel using scrap and ferroalloys, by melting the load using an electric arc with graphite electrodes. They have a water-cooled chamber and roof fitted with a swivelling system for loading in scrap.

They are equipped with a casting system through conventional taphole or eccentric bottom taphole, and current conductive electrode arms.

They are equipped with a system for applying energy produced by chemical reactions by means of multi-function injectors; a water-cooled high-intensity secondary circuit using copper conductors, and electrically symmetrized. They also have an automatic and digitally controlled system for regulating electrode movements.

Value proposition

  • High specific power rates.
  • High-speed hydraulic drives for all furnace movements.
  • Energy management system.
  • Power supply protection and control system.
  • Lower operational costs, and lower preventive maintenance and repair costs.
  • Optimised productivity.
