Solar Powered Weeding Robot

Solar Powered Weeding Robot

Tertill is a solar powered, autonomous, self-sufficient weeding robot that wanders through the garden taking care of the weeding daily. This helps gardeners to focus on the plants they want to grow, when they want to.

Made with unique design elements, and a variety of sensors, Tertill patrols the garden daily, avoiding plants and obstacles while looking for weeds to eliminate. It hacks down weeds via a small spinning whacker under its cambered all-terrain wheels.

Using this solar powered weeding robot, organic gardeners can breathe easy and enjoy a weed-free, chemical-free garden all season long.

Recognition of a weed & a plant:

Tertill uses a simple method to recognize a weed or a plant. In general, weeds are short, and plants are tall.
If Tertill comes across a plant, the front of the shell activates a sensor that makes the robot turn away. If it comes across a weed, it activates a different sensor that turns on the weed cutter.
Tertill uses a height-based approach and when it approaches the plant collar, it will recognize it and turn away.

How does it get rid of weeds?

Tertill uses spinning string trimmers to whack out weeds and looks for weeds every day. Weeds are always small when the robot finds them and a whacked weed may sprout again.
To discontinue a growing weed, Tertill checks for weeds everyday and never lets a weed develop the leaves it needs to replenish this energy. So, eventually, the weed gives up and dies.
Tertill gets charged from the sunlight. The solar cells convert the light into electricity and it stores the energy in a battery. This means that you do not need to charge or replace.
Tertill™ uses its stored power smartly, during cloudy stretches, when less power is available; it patrols for weeds less often. It works aggressively when there is more sunlight. On the other hand, weeds grow more slowly when they have less light.
It uses several sensors and clever programming to keep out of trouble and to detect steep slopes, Tertill™ uses the same sort of sensor that tells your cell phone which way is up. It can also sense if a motor stops turning, it can protect itself from damage.
