The Marine Shaft Power Meter (MSPM) system is suitable for all commercial vessels with single or multiple shaft installations with shaft diameters from 150mm up to 1100mm. It continually measures on shaft torque (kNm), speed (RPM) andpower (kW). The average period can be a user from 0.1 seconds up to 4 minutes. The more advanced system can sample shaft data at up to 1,000 sample per second. Using this dynamic shaft data, we can show why efficiencies are varying and show the condition of the engine and drive line. We can identify changes to engine condition by isolating a defective cylinder or a timing issue in the engine. The data will also highlight a defective propeller, a whirling shaft or inefficient shaft bearings.
