Type AC Cables, a type of armored cable sometimes referred to as BX cable, have been in use for several decades and are common in commercial and light industrial applications. One element that makes AC cables different from other armored cable is that the armor is used as a ground path in addition to a bare aluminum bond wire. Other armored cable types such as MC Cable utilize green insulated grounding conductors. In addition, Type AC armored cable is insulated with a moisture resistant paper wrap, MC cables are insulated with polypropylene wrap.
