Vacuum forming is a fairly simple method of thermoforming in which we take large sheets of plastic and heat them to a temperature that makes them pliable. Then, we use a high-powered vacuum to remove all of the air out from between the heated plastic sheets and a pre-made mold, pulling it tightly against the mold and creating the custom shape. Depending on the type of material used, vacuum forming can be performed rather quickly, and while it’s generally seen as more basic, technology-wise, than other methods of custom plastics manufacturing, it still is used for a variety of products.
