Embedded PC and the Smart Factory

An embedded PC is a compact, modular computer for industry. It is also known under the name Box PC or Boxed PC. Its computer architecture is based on conventional PCs for the office area. However, only those components are integrated that are actually required in the production process. This means that an embedded PC can be operated without a display or monitor and without operating devices (keyboard, mouse, ...), for example.

The term “Embedded PC” is based on the fact that the computer works “embedded” in a technical system . In this environment it takes on control and monitoring functions. The embedded PC works independently depending on the integration. They are also particularly low-maintenance and still must not fail. Special care is taken to ensure that they generate little waste heat. Just enough that it can be designed without a fan and the waste heat can be passively emitted via cooling fins.
