Crane OCR systems automate the process of recording container information of containers loaded and discharged from ship-to-shore (STS) gantry cranes. Deployed globally since 2002, the ABB Crane OCR system provides near 100% accuracy and unequalled reliability. 

Capturing and processing key data of containers and vehicles enhance the container handling process through shorter lead-time and higher data quality. When combined with the MatchMakermodule,  identifying container transport vehicles at the cranes, it enables the automatic release and confirmation of work orders from the terminal operating system to the terminal truck driver in real-time. The QuayPro module automates stowage confirmation of containers loaded and discharged to/from the vessel, delivering visual and audio work instructions to the crane operator, and completes the process of container handling.
