Victor Hydraulic Cylinders has its origins in the Victor Division of Campion & Irving. John McCallister and Ross Drummond purchased the division in 1989 when it was engaged in general hydraulics offering the full spectrum of hydraulic solutions. At that stage, it was purely a local supplier with only 7 staff. After establishing the Victor name in their new business, John and Ross identified a gap in the market for a dedicated hydraulic cylinder manufacturer with specialist knowledge in this field. Victor Hydraulics was transformed into Victor Hydraulic Cylinders.
Since then the company has gone from strength to strength, outgrowing their original premises in Blenheim Road and moving to a purpose built hydraulic cylinder facility in Hornby. Staff numbers are now in the 50s and the original manual equipment has now given way to almost entirely CNC controlled machines and other specialist equipment all monitored by Victors own in-house ERP system.
In addition to the in house designed ERP system, design and manufacture of hydraulic cylinders is facilitated by a daily stand up meeting to ensure that production is as responsive as possible for our customers. The original flat management structure has been retained enabling good accessibility and interaction between customers and staff.
The journey has transformed Victor Hydraulic Cylinders into a company with an international reputation for manufacturing specialist hydraulic cylinders to a wide range of customers including global OEM's.
Since moving to Hornby, Victors have opened a second factory to cover ancillary work. This includes specialist contract machining services including deep hole drilling, boring, honing and CNC tube bending. This facility is also home to Victor Seismic, the only company in the southern hemisphere manufacturing fluid viscous dampers for seismic protection of buildings and other structures.
Throughout the company’s history, Victors have retained their key characteristics by merging quality, innovation and technology.
