Company Summary
Jessee Equipment Manufacturing provides hulling, drying, in-shell, shelling and packaging equipment primarily to the tree nut industry. Most sales are direct to the customer, but recently we have been exploring options of expanding our sales department with outside dealers or sales representatives.
Company History
Gene M. Jessee, Inc. was founded in 1954 in Chico, California. Mr. Jessee had developed a nut cleaner for the almond industry that utilized a column of controlled air. These machines were called Airlegs and helped revolutionize the almond hulling industry. Units were sold to huller operators directly and through huller plant manufactures who acted as dealers.
During the 1970s, the manufacturing scope of the company was expanded to include equipment for walnut cleaning and additional almond hulling equipment, as well as some installation of the equipment.
During the 1980s, the company focused on expanding its established equipment into additional tree nut industries, establishing product lines for:
During the 1990s, cracking and shelling equipment was developed. This equipment proved to be so successful that complete processing lines are now being utilized internationally. Product lines have been developed to service the coffee industry as well.
The new millennium has brought us expansion in our product lines, enlarged manufacturing facilities and has built a stronger organization. We have continued to refine and improve our existing equipment, streamlined our production flow and have expanded our product line to include complete turnkey systems in the following processing fields: Hulling, Drying, In-Shell Cleaning & Sizing, Shelling, Laser Sorting, Inspection and Packaging. We continue to strive to better serve our customers and to keep up with the growth of our industry.
Company Location and Facilities
The company headquarters and manufacturing facility are located at 2434 Dayton Road, Chico, California. Manufacturing facilities encompass more than 50,000-plus square feet, including engineering, fabrication, paint, assembly, parts department and office space.
We have developed satellite offices in Southern California and Oregon for domestic sales, as well as Chile, China and Australia for international customers.
