History

In 1990, based on unfulfilled market demand, David Pulver founded Ensign Equipment in Holland, MI, USA. Ensign initially started the business in the original Chris Craft boat manufacturing facility that dated back to 1939. The sales that fueled early growth were mostly portable bulk storage bins, surge bins, tilters, and dumpers for a few key customers. Other equipment built at that time included mixers, screw conveyors, live-bottom storage bins, and power hoppers.

With a growing economy in the mid to late 90s, Ensign outgrew its original manufacturing location. A new building was constructed on the northwest side of Holland in 2001 that provided a modern manufacturing facility, office space, and room for growth.

In 2010 a shift was made to expand Ensign’s product offerings to new markets, as well as new products to the existing industries it already served. With a renewed focus, additional team members were added who implemented changes that focused heavily on expanding sales & marketing efforts, lean business systems, product improvement, new product development, automation, and a commitment to superior customer service.

Today, Ensign enjoys increasing market share by engineering and building smart systems that help companies operate more efficiently in a competitive global marketplace. Our focus toward continuous improvement, smart solutions, and the desire to go the extra mile continues to earn industry recognition.
