AboutBIG SKY ENGINEERING, INC

Established in 1998, Big Sky Engineering, Inc.’s mission is to provide economical, comprehensive, and superior automation solutions for the continuously evolving packaging industry. We’re dedicated to bringing lean manufacturing processes to our clients, and our commitment to excellence begins at a project’s inception and continues long after a product’s final acceptance.

Growing with the Industry

As the needs of the packaging industry have evolved and grown, we’ve also grown along with the industry. In 2001, we moved from a 3,000 sq ft suite in Middleton, Wisconsin (a suburb of Madison), to a 5,250 sq ft building where we set up our first in-house machine shop. In 2003, we adapted to an industry shift from using CAD software to a solid modeling program. In 2004, with 18 employees, we had out grown our facility again and began the search for a new home. In 2005, we purchased and remodeled a 23,500 sq ft facility in Verona, Wisconsin (also a Madison suburb). By 2020 we had once again out grown our space and began the search anew, this time purchasing and remodeling a 60,000 sq ft warehouse to be a state-of-the-art facility.

Superior Products and Systems

We’ve become an industry leader because our equipment and systems are accurate, durable, reliable, and adaptable. We pick standard, off-the-shelf components whenever possible to simplify maintenance and eliminate machine downtime, and through partnerships with industry leaders such as Autodesk Inventor, Cognex, Endoline, and Fanuc, we’re able to bring you the latest products and technologies. And, all of our machines are built with future retooling in mind to ensure you can always adapt to changes in your processes.

Client-Centered Services

In addition to our Sales and Customer Service Departments, we have a full-service Engineering Department operating Autodesk Inventor Software, a complete machine shop, and a full Assembly and Debug Department to ensure all of our products meet rigorous quality standards, as well the client’s specific needs and specifications. Our skilled assembly personnel provide in-house assembly, field installation, and service support on all equipment.

Coordinated Teamwork

We only recruit, hire, and retain the most skilled employees who are focused on working together to build quality products and systems for our clients. As home to the University of Wisconsin-Madison , the Madison area provides a great pool of highly-educated and skilled people for us to recruit employees from. Each professional on our team is carefully chosen and brings a unique set of skills to our group. And, each is adept at working in a coordinated team environment, this critical to enable us to provide a superior quality and expertise to our clients.

Responsive Project Management

To ensure successful design and manufacturing of your customized products, a skilled project engineer is assigned to your project for the duration of the process. At every step in the process this engineer will guide your project as well as respond to your questions and needs during these four key phases:

Phase 1 – Engineering DevelopmentPhase 2 – Manufacturing ReleasePhase 3 – Assembly and DebugPhase 4 – Start-up at Your Facility
