Introduction:

Valmet has secured an order from Saica Group (Sociedad Anónima Industrias Celulosa Aragonesa) to deliver a biomass boiler and flue gas cleaning system for the company’s facility in El Burgo de Ebro, Zaragoza, Spain.

Features:

The project will feature a Valmet BFB (bubbling fluidized bed) boiler, designed to generate more than 700,000 tonnes of steam annually. By operating on biomass, the boiler will substantially lower fossil fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, supporting Saica Group’s commitment to sustainability and circular economy practices.

The order has been recorded in Valmet’s second-quarter 2025 results. While the order value remains undisclosed, the plant is expected to be handed over to Saica by the end of 2026.

Valmet’s delivery will include the BFB boiler, auxiliary systems, and the boiler building itself, along with erection, commissioning, and start-up services. The scope also covers a flue gas cleaning system equipped with a baghouse filter to ensure compliance with stringent environmental standards.
