Introduction:

TotalEnergies and Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) have forged a new joint venture, equally owned by both parties, to develop a 1,150 MWac (1,575 MWp) solar portfolio in Khavda, Gujarat.

Features:

This partnership will enhance TotalEnergies’ strategic alliance with AGEL and support AGEL’s goal of becoming a global leader in renewable energy, with a target of 50 GW of renewable power capacity by 2030. AGEL already manages over 11 GW of solar and wind capacity across India.

As part of the agreement, AGEL will contribute assets to the joint venture, while TotalEnergies will invest $444 million to facilitate development.

AGEL, in which TotalEnergies holds a 19.75% stake, is also developing the world’s largest renewable energy site in the Khavda region of Gujarat. Covering an area of 538 km² five times the size of Paris the site will feature a combined solar and wind capacity of 30 GW. To date, AGEL has operationalized 2 GW at this site. Once completed, the Khavda project will have the capacity to supply electricity to approximately 16 million homes in India.
