Introduction

Khorlochhu Hydro Power Limited has awarded international technology group ANDRITZ a contract to supply four turbine-generator units for the 600 MW Khorlochhu hydropower project in Trashiyangtse District, Bhutan.

Features

Hydropower is a key part of Bhutan’s economy and energy supply. Once operational, the Khorlochhu project is expected to generate around 2.524 TWh of renewable electricity annually, supporting the country’s energy needs, economic growth and sustainability goals.

Under the contract, ANDRITZ will handle the design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of four Pelton turbines, generators, auxiliary equipment and balance-of-plant systems.

The project is expected to strengthen Bhutan’s renewable energy capacity and contribute to its long-term green energy development.

The order is valued in the upper double-digit million-euro range and was recorded in ANDRITZ’s order intake for the second quarter of 2026.
