Measurement Systems For Pistons Rods

The union between hydraulic cylinder and position sensor leads to a simple system with a capacity for rapid response and accurate position and speed control signals, thus avoiding the need for mechanical adjustments. The selection of a specific device, depends on the precision required, cost and required life span.

STERN uses different measurement systems of which the most used are:

Magnetostrictive type: all non-contact systems with extremely high safety and durability.

• High precision with adjustable output signal

• Measuring range up to 10 meters

• Can be supplied with different electrical output: analog, digital.

SPM system: non-contact type. One of the possible options forvery long cylinders. It is used only in ceramic or HVOF treatment surfaces in the rods.
