Bevel Gears

Bevel Gears

Custom Bevel Gears

Bevel Gears are gears which instead of being a cylinder with straight teeth (like a spur gear), it is formed into a cone (essentially a tapered spur gear). The teeth at the bottom of the bevel (the large end) taper down to smaller gear teeth at the top of the bevel gear (small end). Bevel gears usually run on shafts that are 90 degrees to one another whose axis intersect at some point above the gear teeth. Bevel gears can also be designed on most shaft angle less than or greater than 90 degrees as required.

Miter Gears

Miter gears are bevel gears that run with a one-to-one ratio (driver and follower each have the same number of teeth) and at 90-degree shaft angles. The pitch angle will always be 45 degrees. Of course, bevel gears with one-to-one ratios can be made to most any shaft angle required.

Most bevel gears and miter gears are manufactured with either a 14-degree 30’ or 20-degree pressure angle on their teeth, but custom, odd (bastard) pressure angles can also be easily designed upon request.

If you have a broken bevel gear or miter gear, just send it to us. We can manufacture a new one.
