Miniaturization is an unstoppable trend in mobile communications, and applications such as small cells, MIMO and DAS are already calling for even smaller connectors that are also technically superb. The new 2.2-5 connector system was conceived and designed for applications of exactly this kind. It is excellently suited for use with antennas and remote radio units.
New Yet Already Proven
2.2-5 is based on the design of 4.3-10 while only being half the size. When 4.3-10 appeared a few years ago, it was the first connector system ever developed specifically for the mobile communications. It was robust, boasted excellent electric properties, and rapidly evolved into a new standard for the market.
Now this tried-and-tested design has been taken to the next level to create the 2.2-5 connector system, the first miniaturized version of 4.3-10, which is already being successfully used in an antenna series made by Kathrein.
