Studbolts (or Stud Bolts) are widely used in the chemical and petrochemical industry for flanged joints. Here, different standards are used. Very often Studbolts are required to ASME B16.5, an internationally widely used standard for flange connections.
A big difference between threaded pieces according to DIN or screws with head lies in the determination of the nominal length. While the total length up to the plane surface is specified for threaded pieces according to DIN and capscrews, the nominal length for Studbolts refers to the area without phase (from the first supporting thread pitch)
