Extension springs are used in products to absorb energy, store it, and create resistance to a pulling force. Extension springs are typically wound with an initial tension that is based on the load requirements of an application to oppose extension. Both ends of the spring are attached to components so that when they are pulled apart the extension spring tries to bring them back together. The ends of the extension spring may include hooks, eyes, or other attachment mechanisms.
