CNC Machining for Titanium

CNC Machining for Titanium

Titanium is extremely strong and boasts a high strength-to-weight ratio. It also has excellent corrosion resistance, high operating temperatures (up to 1,000°F) and is nontoxic. Another key benefit of titanium is its low thermal expansion and high melting point that is roughly 3,000 degrees F.

Machining titanium will be more costly than other metals such as aluminum due to it being more difficult to manufacture and machine. In terms of appearance, titanium’s color varies depending on how much it has been altered. It can range from dull gray in raw form to shiny silver when smooth.

Titanium Machining Applications

Titanium has range of applications due to its advanced material properties. Frequently, you’ll find titanium parts in the aerospace, medical, military and marine industries.

  • Discs
  • Airframe and space capsule components
