Cutting and Trimming

Cutting and Trimming

PaR's Aerospace waterjet systems are configured to provide the highest levels of automation to maximize your productivity. Whether cutting composite or metallic components, waterjets have significant productivity advantages.

PaR's waterjets include many fully integrated capabilities such as auxiliary spindles for drilling and milling, automated loading systems, and in process inspection.

Benefits of PaR's Waterjet:

Fully automated with integrated automatic self-calibration routines and automatic head exchanges to accommodate auxiliary processes.

Cutting with Catchers or cutting submerged in cutting tanks, either way PaR manages the energy of the system to provide reliable operations.

Fully Integrated Configurable Fixtures to accommodate families of parts

Integrated automatic load/unload systems

Integrated scanning to map part actual geometry and adaptively trim to ensure the correct part geometry even when spring back means the part is not in its nominal contour.

Integrated probing and inspection capability to perform geometric validation in the machine without having to transport to a secondary inspection station.

Ultrasonic

Trimming and milling of core materials is often a difficult and extremely dusty operation that leaves ragged edges and torn cells.  To achieve the precision and cut quality demanded by aerospace applications, without dust, PaR uses ultrasonic cutting technology.  PaR’s ultrasonic cutting systems use both straight knives and rotating discs to cleanly trim aerospace honeycomb core materials.  Whether phenolic, Kevlar, or aluminum core, these machines provide the optimal solution, without dust.  To enhance productivity, the machines can also cut prepreg, enabling all of your cutting operations in a single station.

PaR’s LM Series Precision Motion Platform provide the base motion system for the integrated ultrasonic cutting process.  The linear motors of the LM Series provides the high speed and high acceleration that the process demands.  Additional, a spindle head can be automatically exchanged for the ultrasonic head to provide drilling and secondary milling processes if required.

Features:

Auto calibration

Automatic tool exchange for both ultrasonic knives and discs as well as for spindle tools.
