Condenser & WSHP Coils

Packless water-source condenser coils operate efficiently as either refrigerant condensers or refrigerant evaporators when transferring heat with water. This makes them an ideal choice for both water-source heat pumps (WSHP) and water-cooled condenser applications.

The coils are available with Packless Green Surface technology for improved efficiency and energy savings. Standard sizes are available for 1⁄2 through 30 ton systems. Packless can also manufacture customized coils to meet your needs.

Packless coils are C-UL-US listed and manufactured in an ISO 9001:2015 certified plant. Maximum rated working pressures are 500 psig on the water side and 650 psig on the refrigerant side.

Technical Details

Packless coils utilize a coaxial "tube-in-tube" design. Water flows through the inner tube while refrigerant flows in the annulus between the inner and outer tubes.

The key to the high performance of Packless coils lies in the convoluted multi-lead inner tube manufactured in a patented process. The resulting convoluted tube has increased heat transfer surface area per unit length and permits full flow of both water and refrigerant around its entire periphery for improved performance.

Turbulence imparted by the convolutions to both the water and refrigerant flows further enhances the thermal performance, while inhibiting the accumulation of deposits on the surfaces. The net result is an effective, compact heat exchanger with superior anti-fouling characteristics.

Optimum heat transfer with Packless water-source condenser coils is achieved with a counterflow arrangement of water and refrigerant during condensing.

Standard sizes are available in space saving shapes for nominal 1⁄2 through 30 ton systems. Higher capacities are available upon request. Standard models are available with either copper or 90/10 cupronickel inner tubes surrounded by steel outer tubes. Copper inner tubes are recommended for fresh water and cooling tower applications while cupronickel is recommended for ground source and marine applications.
