DAMPING SYSTEMS (ANTI-VIBRATION FITTINGS + FIELD SPACERS)

DAMPING SYSTEMS (ANTI-VIBRATION FITTINGS + FIELD SPACERS)

Overhead line ropes are excited to vibrate due to laminar wind currents, which can lead to damage to the overhead line rope, individual components or the mast. In order to reduce these vibrations to an uncritical level, damping systems must be built into the overhead line.

The Stockbridge damper provides effective protection. Wind-induced vibrations can break the conductor and the cable. The Stockbridge damper counteracts this. This was invented by George Stockbridge in 1924.

In the field spacer sector, Mosdorfer cooperates with its subsidiary DAMP srl ( www.damp.it )

The main task of the field spacer is the reliable spacing of the conductors under operating conditions.

Vibration dampers are a remedy for vibrations caused by periodic vortex shedding, which stimulate the rope to vibrate across the direction of the wind. Without a vibration damper, the alternating bending stresses cause rope damage to the point of complete breakage of the ladder.
