A Variable Reactance Transformer (VRT) is a device that incorporates saturated magnetic cores with an isolation transformer all in one package. It is an extremely reliable device that has been in continuous production for almost fifty years.

The primary winding can be phase shifted which eliminates the need for additional transformers.

A VRT is ideal for Vacuum Furnace applications where current control into a heating element load is required.

Construction Features include water cooled copper windings that run very cool. Joint free toroid shaped cores offer an ideal magnetic path that keeps core losses to an absolute minimum.

Vacuum Epoxy Encapsulation of the cores & winding make the final product capable of withstanding harsh environments.

Highly efficient VRT’s have been built as high as 99% efficient in cases where electrical costs are high and as low as 97% in applications where product cost is of the utmost concern.
