Description

The ABB IRB 1400 robot arm is primarily noted for the length of time it has been in production - which started in 1994 and is still ongoing - virtually unmodified mechanically. With a 5kg payload and a 1.4m reach the 1400 is perfect for machine tending, pick and place work, MIG and TIG welding, grinding, gluing, cutting, sealing, fettling and polishing applications.The IRC5 controlled IRB1400, also known as the IRB1410, combines the well-proven and capable arm with ABB’s latest controller. Which is based on industrial PC architecture giving excellent connectivity and adaptability. The hardware is modular and analogue and digital I/O can be added as needed. The IRC5 uses ABB’s powerful RAPID programming language that is probably one of the best known and most capable in industrial robotics. The IRC5 pendant has a large colour touch screen and joystick control.The arm has a supplementary load of 18kg. This allows the mounting of the wire feed unit on the arm itself. The path following and repeatability of just 0.05mm the IRB1410 is very good indeed. Giving full control and process reliability. Max velocity of the TCP (tool centre point) is 2.1m/sThe 1410 arm design is notably stiffer than its competitors; it is also quieter and has very long service intervals. Having said this it should be noted that the wrist of the 1410 is also narrower than most allowing better access to the work-piece.The IRC5 has a very large number of software options available such as Arcware. This option gives the programmer control over all aspects of the weld process including wire feed speed and weave shape and frequency.
