Hammer Mill
The hammer mill is a rugged high-speed industrial impact mill (turbo mill) engineered to operate in high-volume production environments requiring continuous particle size reduction, so commonly used in industrial chemicals, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
How Does a Hammer Mill Work?
Particle size reduction of feed materials by hammer mills occurs in three actions: repeated high-speed impact from hardened steel rotating hammers, materials colliding with the grinding chamber/liner wall, and high-speed particle-to-particle collision | impact and shearing |. Screens, set at a specified cut point, retain coarse particles for further grinding while allowing product sizes below the cut point to pass and exit the mill. Achieving the target particle sizing is a function of rotor speed, feed rate, hit resistance, clearance between grinding plates and hammers, and screen size.
