Multilayer Rigid-Flex

Combines flexible and rigid substrates which are laminated into a single package. The result is a 3D interconnect that can be bent and folded into a higher performing PCB. Rigid-flex allows designers to replace multiple PCBs (interconnected with connectors, wires and ribbon cables) with a single package offering improved performance and reliability.

For designs with more traditional outer layers – where components will be mounted/soldered to the inner flexible layers – it allows interconnection to another rigid section of the same PCB. Or, to a connector that terminates at another point in the system design.

This technology reduces the need for bulky cables within a system. It also saves time and money at the system assembly level, resulting in a cleaner, and typically even more compact housing at the top level assembly.
