Smart Cameras

• Smart cameras are self-contained, standalone vision systems with built-in image sensors in the housing of an industrial video camera.
• They contain a dedicated processor and all necessary interfaces and components. Smart cameras have the advantage of being more compact compared to PC-based vision systems and are often easier to use. Less powerful versions are often referred to as smart sensors.
• Smart cameras are especially suited for applications where several cameras must operate independently and often asynchronously, or when distributed vision is required (multiple inspection or surveillance points along a production line or within an assembly machine).
