J&L Mark 5 Specialty Folder Gluer

J&L Mark 5 Specialty Folder Gluer

J&L Mark 5 Specialty Folder Gluer

Introduced in 1988 as the world's first, fully modular, shaftless, servo-driven Specialty Folder Gluer, the J&L changed the corrugated landscape and set new heights for corrugated box manufacturing machinesflexibility, speed and performance. Coupled with a skilled and highly responsive US centered-service organization, satisfied customers expanded their businesses on the basis of the J&L's capabilities.  Now, our fifth generation J&L Specialty Folder Gluer, the J&L Mark 5, represents the unmatched, premier solution for the innovative box maker committed to delivering superior value to its customers.

New Features

Sectional Jam Detection

If a jam is detected by the Mark 5, the boxes downstream of the section the jam was detected will continue moving through the machine to fold, glue and pass to the bundling operator. Without the sectional function in the jam detection algorithms, boxes downstream of the jam would most likely end up in the scrap bin.

Electronic Variable Speed Folding Belts

Occasionally, boxes are not cut square in the diecutter, causing a skew in the manufacturer's joint when the box is folded. By varying the speed of the left- or right-hand upper folding belt, additional pressure can be exerted on the panel during the fold to correct die cut deficiencies. By allowing the operator to electronically vary the speed of the folding belts from the operator station, it's not necessary to stop the machine or enter the hazard area while the machine is running boxes to make a folding belt speed adjustment.

Small Box Tooling-

Regardless of the width of the J&L purchased, all sizes run the same minimums, allowing the customer to match the J&L width to the largest die cutter in the plant. For customers who tend to run smaller box sizes, the Small Box Tooling Kit simplifies smaller boxes set-ups and allows easier folding and gluing of the smaller panels. Full Flap Final Fold For sleeves and boxes with narrow minor panels, it may be necessary to fold the major panel completely over to the far end of the box.

The Full Flap Final Fold - This option allows the upper belt on one side to be shortened, making room for the panel to fold completely over to the far end of the box.

Compression Exit Hold-Down Rods

Depending on flute size and die cutting quality, some smaller box styles may have residual memory in the folded scores, causing them to pop open when exiting the upper compression belt. When these boxes pop open, the glue integrity is lost and the shingled stream is generally broken, creating a gooey mess. The Compression Exit Hold-down Rods control the shingled stream by continuing to exert downward pressure on the shingle until the boxes reach the bundling operator.
