Having a backup generator is great.

In the event the utility power goes down for several days, or your own transformer suffers a catastrophic failure and you’re weeks without mains power, your generator can keep your site going.

Lots of processes can handle an interruption of 15-30 seconds, the time it typically takes for the generator to start and changeover following a utility failure, but what if you have processes that can’t?

A UPS is constantly online. It’s installed with a battery pack to keep your vital equipment powered up over those critical 15-30 seconds and often with enough battery power to allow a controlled shutdown if further problems prevent the generator from starting.

You might not need this for your canteen fridge and kettle, but for operating theatres, alarm panels and communication rooms, any interruption may be unacceptable.
