The Aviation Challenge, a programme under the Aviation Development Fund (ADF), seeks to tap the intellectual capacities of the industry, academia and others to develop innovative solutions to real issues faced by Singapore aviation that presently lack viable or commercially available solutions.
The programme provides funding for selected projects to develop working prototype systems. Specifically, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will select up to three proposals and give up to S$2 million each to develop a prototype in 24 months. In addition, a cash prize of S$300,000 will be awarded to the winning project.
The second run of the Aviation Challenge focuses on the automation of the build-up and breakdown of cargo pallets and containers. CAAS is seeking proposals for solutions that will help address this currently manpower-intensive and physically demanding process, and improve the efficiency of the cargo industry.
The application for the Aviation Challenge 2 closes on March 31, 2015.
